I am Denise, the founder of FooDee Nutrition. FooDee was born from a love of good food but that love affair struggled daily as my food choices, lifestyle and body were not working together. I pushed my body beyond what it could handle, I didn’t listen to cues until it was too late and I fought with my belief system. I did not want to change, slow down, to listen to my body. Some might say STUBBORN but I like to think my PERSISTENCE took me on a challenging but superbly REWARDING JOURNEY. I had to re-learn many behaviours. I have read the literature, done the exams and yet the biggest learning has come in my own journey and the journeys I share with my clients. I will always continue to learn, to bring you the latest scientific evidence but I am holding true to my inner values, I now trust my instinct in understanding who you are and how I can support you to feel your best self.
From day one in my nutrition career, I have been obsessed with understanding behavioural changes. What is it that drives us to make seek change, but not only that what makes us realise and sustain them in the long term? I have always been drawn to working closely with people, working as a Relationship Manager in my former life. A good coaching relationship can be a pivotal turning point for you, that crunch factor that will help you stop doing what it is that you are doing and start doing all the things that you want to. I get my energy from supporting you, I feel pride and joy when I see you make even the smallest of changes and carry those forward for may years to come.
My food philosophy is straightforward – eat a variety of SIMPLE, REAL, WHOLEFOODS. Food should be celebrated and I encourage people to enjoy eating without a sense of loss or deprivation, and to appreciate the true tastes of good food. However my sessions will be diverse and challenging, I will be asking you to consider things from different perspectives, I will be challenging you beyond just what you put in your mouth.
Quite often we turn to Nutrition when we are disillusioned and overwhelmed by our symptoms. I have felt frustrated at this point looking for all sorts of miracle cures and have tried that many quick fixes to know that they don’t work. This is what makes me so determined to bring you the best coaching service I can. I skilfully infuse my coaching sessions with activities, physical exercise, challenges and fun to bring a sense of wellbeing to the entire body. You will find answers from places you weren’t looking, you will feel less overwhelmed and more in control of what you are eating, you will never want a diet plan again. I will ask you to give 10% to plenty of areas of your life not just 100% to food.
The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance, and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.
